Haymaking Implements

The maneuverability, compact size, ability to safely work on steep slopes (up to 45° [100%]) and relative low price (when compared with four-wheel tractor haying equipment) make this small scale WALK-BEHIND haying equipment very attractive to small farmers, especially in rough terrain or small field sizes where full size equipment is impractical. Also popular in the South for raking and baling pine straw. Built to agricultural standards of quality, this equipment will last for many years with minimal maintenance.

Molon Hayrake/Tedder

60" 2-Belt Hayrake/Tedder on Grillo model G107 walk-behind tractor The MOLON brand hayrake/tedder is PTO-driven, so it has plenty of power to move a large amount of hay quickly and sweep the ground clean. The spring-loaded tines are mounted to super-heavy-duty belts, which have a 30+ year lifespan (in fact, since we started using & selling these rakes in 1983, we have NEVER had to replace a belt!

Buck-Rake

Another Earth Tools-designed implement, as a result of popular demand! Buck-Rakes have been used for years on larger tractors in Europe (and some in this country) for gathering loose hay in a field. One United-Kingdom-based company (Tracmaster) produces them to fit walk-behind tractors…so we figured we could do it too! There is a handle that extends back over the tractor, and this serves 2 functions: it allows for instant “attack-angle” adjustments with a lever-operated release system, and it also allows the operator to “lean” into the lever a bit to keep the rake tines firmly on the ground when operating on bumpy terrain (otherwise, you’d have to pull UP on the tractor handlebars to keep the rake tines pressed down…that will wear you out FAST!

CAEB Round Hay Baler

BCS 853 walk-behind tractor operating CAEB mini-round haybaler implement (baler is equipped with optional Gathering Wheels) Built well enough for everyday agricultural use, this mini-baler produces a 40 to 60 pound (depending on moisture of hay and how tight you roll it) bale measuring 21” x 23”, every 60 seconds. Bales are formed by a series of chain-driven aluminum rollers around the circumference of the bale chamber - - no belts or bands to dry-rot or need adjustment.

CAEB Bale Wrapper

Now you can effectively produce silage with a 2-wheel tractor using the CAEB Bale Wrapper. In many European countries where the climate is too damp for hay production, hay is simply cut and baled green (no drying time for the hay), and then wrapped in airtight plastic film to make haylage or silage… which is actually a higher quality feed than hay for many animals. The “green” bales are simultaneously rotated and spun (make sense?
